Snapshot voting

Why buying tokens mid-vote changes nothing.

Every proposal records the chain's block number at the moment it is created. That's its snapshot block. When you vote, your power is your token balance at that block, not at the time you click.

Why it matters

Without snapshots, someone could watch a close vote, buy a large amount of tokens, swing the result and sell straight after. Snapshots fix the electorate the second a proposal opens. What you held then is what you can vote with.

How we compute it

Our indexer stores every transfer of the community token. Your balance at any past block is rebuilt from that transfer history and used as your vote weight. If a token's history is still being indexed, we use a live balance read until coverage catches up.

Tokens bought after a proposal opens don't count for that proposal, but they count for every proposal created after your purchase.
